Weekend Update

We have been pretty busy these past few days... Friday night we went out to the Draught House for a birthday get together. One of the "kids" from Greg's small section was turning 24 or 25! In a strange coincidence - his current roommate and his former roommate were both there, and they were both freaking HUGE. I'm talking over 6'5" each and just ginormous. It was like having your own personal bouncers! But I digress... this is a really great laid back pub. There are people tailgating in the front lot, there are darts in the corner, and seriously about 200 types of beer and cider on draft. And... it's less than a mile from our house! Score!

Saturday was pretty typical for us. Went to Kerbey on the drag for brunch... we sat at the counter since there was a decent wait for a table (game day). We ended up talking to this guy and his son for most of the meal. They were doing college visits - this is the kid's senior year. They're from Southern California, and seemed to be having a great time thus far. I hope we were able to give them good and mostly unbiased opinions of Austin, UT and college life.

Next up was the game. There was supposed to be a 0 to 1% chance of Nebraska winning the game so we thought this would be a stomping! The weather was absolutely beautiful - sunny, 80 degrees.... (Greg didn't wear any sunscreen - oops) and we were looking forward to seeing our friends in the stadium and watching the beating. Hmmmm... the game starts and we can't play for crap! Nebraska is scoring and we look like a bunch of pansies running around the field! It was almost painful. The bright spot of the first half was looking directly up from our seats to the box where Matthew McConaughey kept leaning out the window. It was amusing to watch all the girls around us try to take pictures with their cell phones.

Today, Greg and I met up with Tiffany, my college roommate, who was in town from NYC for a baby shower. It was great to see her - we seem to only see each other every couple of years when either I'm in NYC, or she's in TX! We went to this fabulous place for brunch called Moonshine's Grill. It was some yummy down home Sunday brunch cooking - that's for sure! If anyone reading this comes down to see us for a weekend - remind me to take ya'll there for brunch!

Now I'm off to goof off around the house for a bit while Greg studies. I'm going to call my Grandparents and see if they're up for some visitors later tonight. Maybe knit a little... scrap a little....
