Ahhhhh, 2010

This has been a BIG year for the Baden family. We've had graduations, births, moves, new jobs and thankfully mostly good health for all.

The biggest news of the year was the birth of our daughter, Wren Cosette this past May. Although, Greg's graduation from the University of Texas Law School is a pretty close second!

While our travels have been much fewer and farther between these days (and I do miss my birthday trips) we still have much to be thankful for as we enter 2011. I was able to travel to San Diego for the first time this fall to see my best friend Nicole and her husband Brad (and all of his family) as well as my sister-in-law, Rhonda, and her best friend Mary! Greg squeezed in a few days with his best friend Rob while out in California for business as well. Of course, there were many trips from Dallas to Austin -- and even a quick day trip to Houston to buy a car and lunch with another good friend, Amy and her kiddos!

Atticus entered the terrible/terrific twos full force. He's had a good year, but there have definitely been some ups and downs. This summer was a lot of change for the little man, but we seem to be settling in now and life is calming down. He's now speaking in full sentences and amazes me continually with concepts that he's picked up when I wasn't looking. He's still very much into opposites - the past couple of days it's included running around the house both slow and fast. Of course, instead of saying fast, he says ZOOOOOOM! We had a lot of fun this morning exploring his creativity while he sat in a big moving box in the living room. I'm sure my folks will get a kick out of that! He sat in the box and I asked him to keep imagining things that he could do in the box, things he could cook, turn the box into, etc. It was the longest I've seen him occupied in a while. Hmmm....The tubes he had put in earlier this year seem to have slowed/stopped the ear infections as well - YAY! Knock on wood, he's been relatively healthy this year. Our goal for 2011 - potty training!! I'm definitely ready for the potty training to happen!

Wren is growing by leaps and bounds. She's once again eating solid foods with gusto, and she's up on all fours rocking - getting ready to full out crawl. She can inchworm and army crawl/roll just about anywhere, but the crawling will be in full force soon. I'm worried about having two mobile children! She's definitely "talking" but hasn't moved into the one sound babbling yet. No mamama or bababa's just yet, but hopefully soon. She is still fascinated by Atticus and Greg. She'll watch them move around the room with an intense glare. She's also entering a "mommy" attachment phase it seems. We had friends stop by this morning on their way back home to Cleveland, and she teared up just when everyone said hello to her! The same thing happened over the holidays too! Perhaps it's time to find some play dates for the little lady!

We're now mostly settled in here in Ohio - which of course means that it's time to research our next house in New Orleans. Oy. I've got a few contacts to call this coming week to get the scoop on our new town. I even spoke with the JCC already and put both kids on the wait list for daycare this coming fall. I know. There's a freaking wait list everywhere it seems. I don't even know if the J has the best option in New Orleans, but I figure if it has a wait list, that's a good sign that it's a good place, and best to get on the list now even if that's not our final decision! Greg's hoping to make a trip down south to check out neighborhoods relatively soon - but I'm pretty sure we've got it narrowed down to Uptown or the Garden District. If anyone has a couch he can crash on for a night or two -- let me know! And - my resolution for this week is also to begin in earnest the hunt for New York preschools. Eeek. That's an undertaking, I know.

As for us big kids... Greg loves his job and things and I can't complain either. I've enjoyed a nice change of pace working for delivery -- interactions with more folks and the opportunities to learn new stuff. Never a bad thing, right? We've had a very fortunate year!

There's much more to be said, but for now... it's time for bed!
