Happy Holidays

Ok - I know I owe everyone some pictures, and I promise to free the photos from the confines of my digital camera very soon! In the meantime...

San Francisco was a blast. I went "shoe" shopping with Jen J. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find comfortable 6" to 7" heels. :-) I surprised my friend Rainbow at her dance troupe performance at Ghiradelli Square. I saw a ton of old friends at Andrew Chanyi's holiday party. Then, I headed to the East Bay for a day and met Aemon for the first time. He is so darn cute! I hung out with my dear friends Jhana and Christopher. Then, I headed back to the city for a lunch date with Seth (who looked very lawyerly). Alas, then my time was up and it was back to Texas for me....

This past week seemed to zoom by. Greg finished his finals and I got elected designated driver for the law students for the late night adventures. That was fun. But... now finals are over and classes don't resume until January 14th! Of course, Greg has a few interviews scheduled between now and then -- but he's enjoying a much needed break.

Yesterday, we did the Hadd Family Christmas gathering over at my cousin Raymond's house. I always have a good time watching all the kiddos run amok around the house just having fun. There were 8 kids all under the age of 12! Oooh... and itty bittty puppies. Raymond and Angela bred their two Shitzu dogs and now have 4 babies. Cute, cute, cute puppies. But really, have you ever seen an ugly puppy? :-)

It was good to see Grandma and Grandpa again. Grandma has had a really tough time with her knee replacement which is a shame. Things started out looking so good, but this infection seems to be never ending and it's causing alot of pain. We all managed to get some family pictures taken in-between present opening.

Ok... pictures coming soon. Promise.

I'm going back to Cali

I am so freaking excited. Timing couldn't have worked better. Last week while in Dallas for work, boss lady asked me if I'd had a chance to get to San Francisco to see my friends and meet Aemon Morlan. I said I hadn't, but that I was keeping an eye out for a weekend saver fare from American Airlines. Well wouldn't you know it... we get back from lunch and I checked the weekly specials for the following weekend. Austin to San Jose! I think I really did let out a squeel of excitement. (I have no clue how to spell squeel.) I went in and asked boss lady if I could have off from work on Monday, December 17 and she looked over the calendar and said yes. Next up, I emailed Greg and asked if I could buy myself a present -- a weekend trip to San Francisco. It also works out well because that will leave Greg with another weekend by himself to study for his last final. Cool, huh. Of course he said I could go. Last piece of the puzzle - email Jen J and Jhana to make sure I had couches to crash on.... and bah-dah-bing! I booked the ticket.

But wait... the story gets better. Jen J tells me that an old friend Andrew Chanyi is hosting the annual Holiday Party on Saturday the 15th. Perfect! Then, there's an email from Rainbow, and she's got a dance troup performance on Saturday morning. Fabulous. I'd say Sunday would be a relaxing day, but I'll be meeting Aemon for the first time -- and I don't think there's such a thing as a dull day around an 11 month old boy!

Monday, the plans so far include meeting up with Seth for lunch and hanging out at Jen's house until I have to leave. Bummer that everyone can't take the day off from work to play with me. But I think I'll survive.

I can't wait.

Time Flies

Wow. I can't believe it's already December 11. Greg's first final starts in an hour - Property. He's packing up now to head out the door. He seems pretty calm. I'm impressed. I'm just amazed at how quickly this semester has flown by...

Peanut had another checkup yesterday morning. Her liver is good -- but it looks like she still has the UTI. Poor thing. We've got some funky contraption to try and get a "sample" from her so the docs can test her urine. I'm not sure she's going to go for plastic pellet litter -- but you never know. She seems a bit lathargic today too. We're trying to keep a close eye on her since it seems she's still not feeling all that great. What a shame they can't tell you what hurts.

We've been pretty busy since my last update. I made it to Dallas for work for a few days last week. I went to the eye doctor, where they confirmed that I am still seeing 20/20! So, while his bedside manner, and the layout of the office, and the flow of the day stunk... Dr. Boothe rocked the LASIK. I also made it to my Bubbie's house for a Hanukkah celebration. You just can't go wrong with Latkes! Granted, we make them a little different than most... but we do alot of things a little different than most.

So, Greg has been busy studying for his finals - and said it was helpful to have the house to himself while I was in Dallas. So, partially to be nice to him, but mostly because I hadn't seen my friend Amy in ages -- I invited myself to Houston. I have to say the drive from Austin to Houston is WAY better than the drive from Austin to Dallas. Maybe I was lucky - but I just cruised right along. It was so wonderful to see Amy and Emma -- AND, I finally met Matt, Amy's fiancee. Emma was my bestest friend all day long until it came time for bed. She apparently did NOT want to let me sleep in her room. She told me I could have the couch. How sweet of her... (I won, and got the bed.)

Sunday, I was lucky enough to go to Nick's Sports Bar for a Green Bay Packers game. The bar is taken over by the CheddarHead Pack of Houston. These people are nuts - but it was a blast! Since Amy and her folks are on the CHPH committee - I would expect nothing less. Every single person there was dressed up to the nines in Packer gear. I felt a bit out of place in my University of Texas shirt... but figured it was better than walking in there in my Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt!! But... this week was when Amy and Matt were living up to their end of a bet made with a Cowboy fan at Nick's. It's the end of my lunch hour -- but I'll upload pictures later tonight.

Peanut Update

Well, the little lady is home, but she's still not feeling all that great. She's not gagging anymore at the sight of food - but we still can't get her to eat. I'm giving her a couple more hours, then I'm going to try to syringe feed her. That'll be a treat.

She had her kitty ultrasound yesterday and the preliminary results from the tech (not the full doctor consult) indicate that she has a bulge in the wall of her heart between two ventricles and that her pancreas is irritated and off-color. Greg and I have been talking to Yvonne, and googling kitty pancreatitis. It's scary. She needs to let the pancreas rest - but if she doesn't eat, she can develop Fatty Liver which is very dangerous in cats.

The vet this afternoon said if we can't get her to eat - even with the syringe by tomorrow, they'll have to try the steroid drug for the pancreas. The catch is that steroids and heart conditions are usually trouble - but her not eating may be bigger trouble.

Poor baby. It's like you can look at her and just tell that she doesn't feel well. She has been sleeping alot since she's been home, but we expected that. I think she was pretty stressed staying at the vet's and just being home on her bed was enough to send her to dreamland. So, now she's well rested - and I'm able to medicate her pretty well (tiny pills and syringe stuff)... so we just need her to eat. Sigh.

Keep thinking happy kitty thoughts.
