Hump Day

Hanging out at Bubbe and Pops. Atticus seems to be allergic to something in the house. Not sure what, but everytime we're here for more than a day or two, he starts breaking out in a rash. Poor guy.

I have taken some new pictures over the past few weeks, but I haven't yet freed them from the camera. I'll try to do that when we get back to Austin.

Hmmm, what else...

Lots of work to do tonight - so no time to sit, ponder and type! More soon, I promise!

The Future

Well, it seems Greg will be employed next year. The details are still a bit hush hush, but details will be revealed in due time. We'll be headed out of Texas - but staying close to family. Know where we're headed? :-)

In other news - we received word today that Atticus will finally be getting a spot at the JCC daycare. We've been offered a a spot at their satellite location which is due to open 11/2/09. Greg will attend the open house next week while I'm up in Dallas to make sure all is "kosher". Ha ha. The location isn't as convenient as the JCC's main campus - but I think it will be a good change for Atti. He's been missing the social interaction of other kiddos. Well, at least I think he has.

Greg, Atticus and I also had some photos taken at Picture People the other weekend. It wasn't our best session - we had quite a wait and by the time they took us back, it was Atti's nap time and he was NOT interested in being the happy smiley baby for the camera. But - there are a few good shots. I'm sure there's an easier way to share these photos, but you'll have to forgive me - my mind is currently thinking about work (see below). Work - I think I may have broken Amy's database. Now most of you are asking, what's a database? And who is Amy? Well, Amy is my dear coworker who is currently sitting on a beach sipping a fruity drink soaking up the sunshine who will probably want to throttle me the moment she steps foot back in Texas. I really want to cry. I don't know what happened. I used her directions yesterday and ran the first part of the process, but when double checking my work today - something just isn't right, and I can't figure it out. I've asked for help - but I have a sinking feeling. I was so nervous about running these reports in her absence that I may have psyched myself out and really blown it. Oh, please don't let that be the case. I know this is a bit of a random rant for the family blog, but I'm freaking out about now!

Well, the laptop battery is about to die, so I've got to go plug in and maybe head to bed. I'm hoping something brilliant will come to me in my sleep. If anyone reading is a database guru -- send me some good thoughts, will ya?

Too much?

A recent Public Service Announcement from the UK to warn teens against texting and driving. Did they go too far? Or is this the wake-up call that kids need?

This video should not be watched with young children in the room. It is definitely graphic. I have goose bumps now - even knowing it's a staged video.

Catching Up

Wow, has it really been a week since I've updated the blog? Yikes.

Things have been busy as usual around here. Atticus had a lovely play date with his friend Eleanora last Friday. The two of them were both a bit grumpy - but it was still a good diversion for all involved. Atti did take a pretty good tumble at their house and whack the back of his head pretty good -- but he seems to be doing better.

Teeth, teeth and more teeth. We are seriously teething at the moment. Poor guy is chomping on his fingers, and especially on the washcloth and towel after the bath. I don't see any new teeth that have broken the surface, but you can definitely feel little boulders under the gums. That really has to hurt. Big boulder like objects shoving their way through your tender little gums - it's just mean.

Words, pointing and other babbling is also on the increase. The words are still a little slow to come, but we've definitely heard "uh-pah" several times now. Atticus is into lights and light switches and wants to be picked up so that he can get closer to the lights and the switches! My favorite is still the hugs and kisses. You can ask him for a hug and he comes over and puts his arms around your neck. There truly isn't anything sweeter.

Napping. Well, this is still a touchy subject, and there are highs and lows - but for today, it's going well. It's taking about 30 minutes or so for Atticus to settle down in the crib, but he's been taking two naps each about an hour to hour fifteen pretty consistently. Yay. I figure just about the time we really have the routine down, he'll be ready to drop the morning nap. My luck.

Greg - currently flitting about the country interviewing for clerkships for next year. No one knows what next year holds for us. East Coast? Texas? Midwest? I promise to keep you in the loop once we know more!

Since Greg is travelling all about, my Mom has come down to stay for a couple days and help out in the mornings and evenings. It wasn't necessary - but I enjoy the help, and she enjoys spending time with the little man, so it all works out.

I've taken several photos over the past week. I'll try to free them from the camera sometime very soon. :)

Till then...

Blonde Jokes

Got these from my Mom this evening and there are a few funny ones in the list... I know, I know - but they are kinda funny. :)

FIRST DEGREE
A married couple were asleep when the phone rang At 2 in the morning. The very blonde wife picked up the phone, listened a moment and said 'How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!' and hung up. The husband said, 'Who was that?' The wife answered, 'I don't know, some woman wanting to knowif the coast is clear.'

SECOND DEGREE
Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, 'Hmm, this personlooks familiar.' The second blonde says, 'Here, let me see!' So, the first blonde hands her the compact. The second blonde looks in the mirror and says, 'You dummy, it's me!'

THIRD DEGREE
A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead. Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head. The boyfriend yells, 'No, honey, don't do it!!!' The blonde replies, 'Shut up, you're next!'

FOURTH DEGREE
A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says, 'Go ahead, ask me, ... I know 'em all.' A friend says, 'OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin ?' The blonde replies, 'Oh, that's easy. it's W.'

FIFTH DEGREE
Q: What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant? A: 'Is it mine?'

SIXTH DEGREE
Bambi, a blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA Freshman, sat in her US Government class. The professor asked Bambi if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about.Bambi pondered the question; then, finally, said, 'That was the decision George Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware .'

SEVENTH DEGREE
Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime. The policedispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby, was the first to respond. As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then satdown on the steps. Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, 'I came Home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman!'

09-09-09

Happy Birthday as well to Greg's brother-in-law, Brian G.

Kid's Meal

We decided to get a late lunch/early dinner tonight at a local BBQ joint. They're running a special right now where a kids meal is only $1. I order Atticus the mac-n-cheese (comes with fruit & TX toast). The womantaking the order looks at Atti and asks if we'd rather just get a half side of mac. No I say... The whole meal please.

The little monster ate his whole meal plus some of Greg's fruit plus some banana pudding and STILL wanted more! I asked politely & they gave me some more grapes! You would think he hadn't eaten an hour before we went out! Yeozers!

The good news is that he's finally drinking a little more too. Yay!

Facebook Friends?

So I was thinking... perhaps my blog is my public forum and Facebook, well... Facebook might go back to just being for friends. Is it wrong to de-friend family members and coworkers? I like the idea of there being an open forum for friends. I'm not so sure my family members really need to see and or hear about my wild weekend escapades. Ha ha ha. (You know how wild I can get with a one year old....)

Any thoughts?

Kisses

I love love love getting kisses from my little man. I get home from work, he leans over from the highchair (Bubbe was feading him dinner) gives me a hug and big ole open mouth fishie kiss. My little guppie. :-)

Anniversary

Today, September 3, marks three years since I was fortunate enough to marry my wonderful wife.

Jen - Thank you for sharing a wonderful three years! I love you!

Lunch with Bubbe

Here are a couple photos from today taken by my mom's friend TC with her cell phone! First, Atticus getting a little excited about raspberries. He loves raspberries.

He also loves to share, what a generous little man!

And sharing a few butterfly kisses with Bubbe...
