Diapers

I'm over diapers.  Ready to be done.  I wonder if I can get Wren to go along with this plan?  She was ready to potty train ages ago, but the school wasn't ready - bummer for me.  And now, Wren doesn't really have any great interest in going on the potty.  I need to change her mind.

I'm ready for the next phase of life... you know the one that wreaks havoc on your life because your little girl can't just "pee on a tree"...

Dazed and Confused

I found Wren's Minnie shirt in her drawer?  No clue.  Seriously, I looked in that drawer a million times.  I'm feeling a bit blonde.

In absolutely unrelated news, I have to admit that I'm a bit confused by our neighbors.  I learned yesterday that the guy I thought was the "baby daddy" is actually the "baby uncle".  Say what?  So... there are only three bedrooms in that house I'm guessing.  Living in the house are grandparents, two kids and two grandkids?  Not sure I get it -but then again it's totally NONE of my biz-ness.

EDITED TO ADD: So Greg thinks that the guy I thought was grandpa he thinks is baby daddy and is married to the girl who looks like she's 18.  He thought the woman I thought was grandma is grandma, but that she doesn't actually live there.  Dude, it's confusing.

Also unrelated, I'm pretty sure I heard a shot or two fired the other night.  It wasn't followed by screaming or sirens so I'm assuming the shooter missed the target.  It could have been a crappy car backfiring - there's definitely not a shortage of crappy cars in the area - but I have the sinking feeling it was something a bit more sinister...

Thunderstorms

Wow.  Those were some serious thunderstorms last night and early this morning.  Atticus was in our room at just after 4 am.  He wasn't able to really settle down in our room, so after about 45 minutes of tossing and turning I took him back to his room.  He and I then managed to fall back asleep for a bit in his room - once the thunder finally slowed...

I'd be curious how much rain actually fell over the past couple of days.  It's been raining cats and dogs.

Lost

Recently I purchased two shirts for the kids at the Disney Store.  Spider Man for Atticus and a Minnie Mouse shirt for Wren.  Seriously, this was only a couple weeks ago.  Atti's wore his shirt a couple days ago and it was freshly laundered last night and is once again resting in his dresser drawer.  Wren's new Minnie shirt has mysteriously disappeared.  As in - I can't find the bloody thing ANYWHERE?!?!  How exactly does one lose a bright red Minnie Mouse shirt?  It's not in her dresser, it's not in Atticus's dresser, it's not in the laundry (I did all that last night...) and it's not in either closet.  It's not in our hamper and it hasn't fallen behind the washer/dryer -- yep, I even looked there!  It's not in the diaper bag.  It's not in with the extra clothes at the daycare.  I'm completely puzzled.  And peeved.  Wren absolutely LOVES Minne and now for the life of me I can't find her new shirt.

Ugh.

I thought I was over the sleep deprivation?

Counting

Wren is enjoying counting.  She isn't a fan of one, two or three -- she likes to start with four and continue up from there.  She does seem to rather enjoy counting however and I've taken to counting just about everything to keep encouraging her... we'll see if it works.

She's still talking up a storm, so I don't doubt that counting correctly is too far off...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Atticus: Mommmmmmmmmy, I went poopie.
Me: Good job bud, do you need any help.
Atticus: Yes please.

I walk into the restroom...

Atticus:  Mommy, is that corn in my poopie?
Me: Yes, Atticus.
Atticus:  I didn't chew very well.

No joke.  That was the entire conversation....

Mornings

I never thought I'd say this - but I'm looking forward to springing forward an hour this weekend.  Atticus has been waking up earlier and earlier lately and we're starting to suspect the amount of daylight has at least something to do with this fact...  (That at the train? boat? that insists on honking it's bloody horn waaaaay longer than necessary at 6 a.m.)  We have the paper shades AND room darkening panels on top of those shades covering all of his windows, but it doesn't seem to be making a hill of beans difference.  And... he's taken to going into his sister's room at the crack of dawn to "play".  Sometimes this buys me an additional 10 minutes in bed before the screaming starts, but not always...  We've told him over and over that if he wakes up early he needs to come into Mommy and Daddy's room - but when he wakes, he wants to play with Wren.  Oy.

The highlight of recent mornings was Wren today... while screaming like a banshee while I changed her diaper, she then switched to little miss sunshine when it was time for socks and shoes.  She looked at me and said, no joke, "I like shoes".  Too funny.
