Good News!

Greg has several law thingies going on tonight, so I'm on my own. He's at an IP Law Society meeting and ANOTHER mixer thing for a law firm. So...

I'm going to shout from the rooftops for Greg (who would never do this sort of thing!) and tell everyone that he had a GREAT day on Monday. Greg received phone call from one of the large Austin firms offering him a summer internship position. Woo Hoo! That means he has an offer for both parts of the summer already, and it's not even February. Pretty swanky. And, it gets better because both positions are paid! The small firm doesn't pay as well as the large firm, but the experience he'll gain at each firm is so different. Competition for 1L summer intership positions is tough, so getting 2 offers is quite an accomplishment.

Then... Greg logged onto the UT website and checked his remaining grades for the semester. Holy Moly Batman! Let's just say he freaking rocked his first semester at UT Law! His ending GPA for fall of 2008 is 3.93. I am very proud.

Happy Birthday!

Today - Aemon Morlan celebrates his first birthday... in Tahoe (nice job buddy)! and my cousin Heather Hadd becomes a teenager. It's a big day.

Me... I see the grocery store, Target and some laundry in my future. :-) Thankfully, today is beautiful. This is the first bit of sunshine I've seen in at least a week. Best go take advantage of the gorgeous day!

And lastly, and totally unrelated to anything previously mentioned...

I don't have many pictures of my scrapbooking stuff, but here are a couple pictures of the altered letter "I" that I made for the baby shower I'm attending tomorrow for some law school friends. I'm pretty impressed since this is my first true altered item. I used Daisy D paper, ink and modge podge. That's it! Depending on the reaction it gets, I may have to make more of these as gifts! A letter or a name could be done in any paper, pattern, etc. Make it more girly with some ribbon... oooh, I love being crafty! At the end are a couple pictures of the gift tag and the card too.

Lyndsey Goodman

I admit, I love American Idol. I hardly watch the auditions however because I really don't want to see the crazies, I just want the good stuff. Well... turns out I should have watched last night!

An old friend from Club Med, Lyndsey Goodman, kicked off the Charlotte competition. I have some "Paula pictures" from Paradise Island where Lindsay looks like a freaking super model! But, besides that - she truly is the sweetest thing ever. I was really bummed that I missed the performance, but look what I found! Idol Surprise. It's not the whole thing -- but I think she did a damn fine job. Maybe I should start an online petition: Give Lyndsey a 2nd Chance! I definitely think she is someone that should have made it through! And - she's a great role model for kids to see on TV.

Oooh, here's the whole thing. Post your comments folks... I think she deserves a shot at Hollywood.

So, Lyndsey if by some odd chance you happen to stumble upon my little blog... I am thrilled to see that you are fulfilling your dreams and flying. I always knew you'd do it. Best of luck.

The Point Was?

Greg and I attended a reception last night at the Headliners Club in Austin. We were invited because Greg received a scholarship for a portion of his tuition. We were under the impression that several faculty members and a large portion of the donors would be in attendance. Great, right? Wouldn't it be nice to meet in person the donor who selected you as their scholarship receipient?

Well, we did see the Dean when we first arrived. And we saw several friends... but no one else. Odd. All dressed up to mingle with friends...

On the flip side, I made a new dish in the crockpot yesterday and it turned out quite yum. Beef stroganoff from the Crockery Cookery. I must say a quick thanks to Rhonda and to my Aunt Debbie for giving me recipe books and magazines and providing inspiration. I think I may have a handle on this cooking thing. Well, sort of....

Life Resumes

School is back in session. Greg's classes resumed on Monday and we're back in the swing of things. He's taking Constitutional Law with an extrememly right wing (and Constitutional Purist) Professor, Criminal Law, Torts, and Legal Scholarship. And... we're still waiting on grades from last fall! There has been one grade posted, but Greg is waiting till more are posted before he looks at the first grade. That is some serious restrain! I *know* I couldn't do it.

Work is stressful beyond belief. I don't know whose idea it was to change from 2007 to 2008 -- but I almost wish they'd change it back! Add on to that some massive reporting changes and I have been working my tush off lately. We're really looking forward to this new BI (Business Intelligence) system we're installing. Come on new reporting system!!

Hmmm, what else have we been up to? Not alot. It's been great. We've been brunching with friends at Flip Happy Crepes and I took my cousin to this great old fashioned candy store here in Ausin called Big Top. Oooh, and we booked a trip for this coming Spring Break. I'm going back to the Bahamas! We didn't take the annual birthday trip this past December so March it is. Not a surprise trip, but I am excited to take Greg to Paradise Island. Of course, it'll be a be different place without the Club Med, but I know I'll recognize the beaches! (And.. there's always the gigantic pink monstrosity that can be seen from 7 miles away... Atlantis).

Sorry we're so boring lately! Perhaps there will be more exciting goings on next week after my weekend trip to a scrapbooking retreat. :-)

Time Flies.

Wow. So how did it get to be January 5th already? Where in the world does the time go?

Happy New Year to everyone... Greg and I had a great night on NYE. My old college roommate, Tiffany Souders, another college bud, Allison Clark -- and both their respective other halves rented a cottage on the river in New Branfels. They were kind enough to invite Greg and I over for a low-key evening. We couldn't have asked for a better night. We played some dice game called Farkel -- gotta say, kinda fun actually. We built a fire in this big gong like fire-pit thingy, we grilled steak, corn, potatoes, and a ton of other stuff ... We wore party hats and honked our party horns at boats, kayaks, etc that passed us by... We went through a bottle of Grey Goose, 6 bottles of wine and some champagne AND - you ready... I sang karaoke with Tiffany and Ali. I KNOW. Me singing! Thankfully Tiff's dog is little and didn't howl too bad when I had the microphone!! It was good to see Tiff and Ali and I really enjoyed having some time to catch up and just hang out. Greg got along great with the boys and although he was hesitant at first to go to New Braunfels, I think he had a good time. Whew.

Now... we're in Dallas. Greg had a meet and greet at a firm this past Thursday, and I figured a few extra days in the Dallas office would be good for me and the team. Turns out, it was definitely a good move. With the changing of the year and the shift in focus at the office, it's been nice to have my coworkers to bounce ideas off of, and make sure that I'm headed in the right direction for 2008. Yesterday, my parents, brother, Greg and I all went to dinner at the Plano Tavern. Yum. The remainder of the weekend was pretty packed too. Greg played golf today with Shawn, Nick and Linc then headed off to meet Brian. Brian's had a lot of changes since we last saw him - he's completed his doctorate and I hear he's actually teaching a class or two! Whoa. Dr. Esp is a professor - how did that happen?

Tomorrow we'll go see Bubbe, Nikki, Skip and Zoe. And I'll try to meet up with Melanie before she and her gang move up to Kansas City. And then... I still have to catch up with Kristen (and finally return her veil) and my old Mahj buddies, and talk to Mahra, and Beletsh and Sandye and oy... so many people to see!

Sigh. I'm tired just thinking about all the things that need to be done!
