Where to Begin

A lot has been going on lately. And - believe it or not, I do actually have some photos to prove it. Of course, they're not online yet... but they're close.

Atti is now sleeping in the big boy crib. I know! I was a little nervous the first night, but he seems to have taken to sleeping in there without much fuss. We did get the little foam wedge things that keep him from rolling over from his back to stomach. We did this only because he's gotten really good at flipping over from the back to belly -- but belly to back is not his strong suit just yet and we didn't want him to get stuck in the middle of the night. He doesn't seem to mind the wedges, but it does force him to sleep all night with his hands up by his head.

He's also "talking" quite a bit more these days. He'll start to babble and then just keep going if you encourage him. It's as if he's just now finding his voice and figuring out he can make sounds other than screaming. :-) This is a good thing.

Then... there's the drool. Seriously, if I could bottle drool and sell it for medicinal purposes or to a study lab or something, I'd be a millionaire. Atticus has definitely moved into the drooly baby stage. He wears a bib now whenever we go out and I have a spare or two in the diaper bag as well. I suppose it's a good thing that he's willing to chew on terry cloth - it should make the teething easier. My friend Melanie suggested wetting and freezing a corner of a washcloth so that he can chew on it once the teething starts.

Atti also picked out a new toy for himself the other day at the baby store. It was quite amusing. I was looking for something that he could hold easily and put in his mouth (since it appears that most everything is headed for his mouth these days). I handed him this toy and he has held fast to this thing, the Winkel. He held onto the toy the entire time we were in Babies R Us and for the past few days as well. Figures my son would have expensive tastes! Personally, I'm in love with a ton of toys on the FAO website, especially this dinosaur! Does it not look like sooooo much fun?

Well... we're off in a few minutes to do Thanksgiving at the UT Law School with Dean Seagar and his wife Professor Cohen. Later tonight is the UT v A&M football game. It'll be the first home game Greg and I have been to this semester. It should be fun. Nikki and Zoe are coming over to babysit Atticus. Atti will have fun with his cousin Zoe and Aunt Nikki I'm sure.

I promise to get the pictures up on Picasa very soon. There are a ton of great pics with Atti smiling! Yay!!

Vacation Planning

Vacation planning gets trickier once you add in what will be an 8 month old baby, your Mom and your Bubbe. Thank my lucky stars for the nice people at the American Express Platinum desk. Seriously - those folks are worth every penny of the card's fee. I wasn't able to get everything booked through Amex this afternoon - but I'm now armed with all the info I need and a few ideas that I hadn't crossed my mind! I'll have a few more phone calls to make tonight and tomorrow at lunch - but we're on the right track to getting the airline portion of the trip figured out. Once that's a done deal - Jane at Amex will help with the transfers and hotels in London and possibly with some day trip coordination too.

It will definitely be an adventure...

In This Corner

Weighing in at 16 lbs 1 oz, standing 26 inches - Atticus Henry.

He's still measuring in the 75-90% percentile for both height and weight. Dr. Owens says that it may taper out a bit by his 6 month checkup -- meaning he may move to the 60-75% percentile group. But, no guarantee. Apparently, he's doing great. Dr. Owens was impressed that he's rolling back to belly so often -- apparently that's less common than belly to back, especially for "large" babies. Atti has a method though... he grasps his hands together, lifts his legs to a 90 degree angle then rolls to the side. A slight straightening of the legs and a push of the tush and he's over to the belly. He will happlily show off this new move to anyone that comes to the house. :-)

He received two more immunizations today, the second set of the ones he received at 2 months. Rotavirus and HIB. The Rotavirus was a liquid which he managed to get about half down - the other half drooled all down his shirt. (Hopefully he got enough...) The shot in the leg was the second half, which went quickly. There was a few moments of screaming - but since we were already past nap time and the exhaustion was setting in - the paci seemed to work and he drifted off to sleep by the time we'd checked out and walked to the car.

We're waiting to hear if we're meeting up with my cousin Sarah for lunch and then this afternoon we're headed to the post office to complete the passport application process. My baby's going to be a world traveller!

Ok, well I'm going to try and get a little work-work in while Atticus is napping.

Hook Em

Look at my little man all! He looks like such a little boy. :-) This is from last Saturday.

(Insert Picture Here) - My stupid internet connection is not cooperating and I can't get to Picasa to get the link to the super cute photo of Atticus all dressed up in his Longhorn tee and blue jeans.

I've also added a few photos to the October folder from my trip to Dallas. The pictures of Atticus and Bryce cracks me up. Looking at the photo, you'd never guess that Atti is 2 months younger. Bryce is by no means a small baby - but Atti is soooo freaking tall.

Atticus has his 4 month checkup this coming Tuesday. I'll post new stats then, but my unofficial guesstimate is that he'll be 17lbs and at least 26 inches. I think he may be going through a growth spurt again, but I'm not sure. Ever since the time change, things have been a little rough - but this past week has been especially difficult. Atticus is eating every 2-3 hours. He's depleted the entire stash of pumped milk. And I'm not talking a little here and there - of the pumped milk, he's downing 4 to 5 ounces at a time! I don't even have time to rebuild the stash the little man is eating so much.

Not much else going on by us... Atticus is still being pretty rolly-poly. He prefers to roll from his back to his belly which I think is backwards from most other babies. Go figure. He will go from belly to back, but he seems way more surprised when this actually happens. Normally he gets to the belly, does the superman thing for a while, gets frustrated and looks at us for assistance. I did run a bunch of errands this week in the effort to get Atticus a passport. He now has an official photo, a certified copy of his birthcertificate, and the paperwork completed. We're going to try to head to the post office tomorrow to complete the applicaiton process. I can't believe my infant will have travelled halfway around the world before he turns 1. Of course, his first flight will be this winter. We've booked travel to see Greg's family up in Ohio over the Christmas break. I think I prefer visiting his family in the summer months, but what can you do?

Ok. I'm exhausted. Sorry the posts have been fewer lately. Once Atticus returns to "normal" sleeping patterns, I promise to update the masses more often.

Family and Accomplishments

Atticus and I spent the day with family! Nikki and Zoe came over this morning and we enjoyed a yummy lunch at Hyde Park Bar and Grill. Man those french fries are good! This afternoon we took a trip up to Georgetown to visit with the Great Grandparents. Atti of course was showing off his new moves - he rolled from back to belly a few times, smiled some big goofy grins, and for the first time, rolled from his belly to back! Quite exciting I promise.

In bum news... it appears Atti may have a touch of Greg's cold. :-( He's been super sneezy today and then tonight, his eyes were a bit puffy and watery. I talked to my friend Angie (the nurse) and so far, we're doing everything right. We're putting saline drops in his nose and we've got the humidifier running in the bedroom. As long as there is no fever and the eye goo is clear - we won't have to go into the doc's office.

For now... it's late and I'm headed to bed.

Sunday Strolling

Another great weekend. We had a TON of trick-or-treaters on Friday night. Our friend Sandra came over for dinner and to help us pass out candy to all the little ghosts and goblins.

Saturday, Atti and I had a pretty lazy day. We went on a few errands - but mainly just played at home. Then, we headed over to the Hadd household for a few hours to play with all the cousins. I don't know who enjoys the time more! I did get a few pictures of the boys holding Atti -- I'll try to upload those later today. Unfortunately, the night did not end on a positive note as the Longhorns lost the football game to Tech in the last 8 seconds of the game. Oy.

The three of us survived the time change - actually better than expected. :-) Greg went off to school this morning to do another Law Review thing and Atti and I had a wonderful walk through the neighborhood. I just spoke with Nikki -- and I'm going to pack up little man and go meet the Myers out at Barton Springs Pool. Fun! I'm not brave enough to don a swimsuit at the moment -- but I think it'll be a great outing!
